How to benefit from Shorthand

Today’s business world is increasing electronically based.  Typewriters and fax machines are becoming relics of the past, whilst in the digital age we arrange meetings ‘in the cloud’ and ‘tweet’ each other on a daily basis.

Within this increasingly technological age is there still a role for some of the more traditional methods?

Certainly some of the basic people management and business leadership rules apply.  Email is a powerful business tool but it needs to be used effectively and sometimes there is no substitute for a face to face, open and honest meeting.  In other areas, business skills such as Shorthand can still play an important part, particularly for note taking in meetings such as disciplinaries.  Whilst a last resort in an employee management situation, disciplinaries are a necessary part of managing the work force effectively and in disciplinary meetings having accurate notes of the conversation is critical.  Using an independent shorthand specialist to take the notes from the meeting and then transcribe them to longhand is beneficial for both parties.

Jackie Parker, our specialist shorthand VA can provide these useful services for disciplinaries, meetings or any other aspect of your business that you feel may benefit from shorthand note taking.
