The Self Assessment tax deadline for paper returns is fast approaching on 31st October 2013 and if you are running your own business there is a chance you will need to submit yours.
Many people have to submit tax returns including those who are self employed, whose annual income is over £100,000 per year, who have Capital Gains tax to pay, who live abroad or who are trustees. Due to the changes in Child Benefit this year, those receiving Child Benefit whose income is over £50,000 may also need to complete a return for the first time.
If you are eligible to complete your tax return online then you have another few months to get yourself ready but those on paper returns should be preparing and completing their tax returns now.
For the tax year 6 April 2012 to 5 April 2013 you will need to ensure you have details ready of your income from all sources as well as details of business expenses, pension contributions and any charitable donations. This information is all required to complete your tax return and calculate the tax you have to pay accurately.
