What is a business incubator?

If you are looking to start or grow your business, then you might be thinking about using a business incubator. But what are they and what do they actually do? Are they the same as business accelerators or different? Here we try and clarify some of this growing area of business development.

Businesses incubators are usually physical spaces, available on relatively flexible terms, which provide services to support start-up businesses

Both business incubators and accelerators help new and start-up companies through the early stages of growth. The difference between the two appears to be that whilst accelerators are geared more around funding, incubators are more focussed on providing a physical space where entrepreneurs can come together to work and learn. Just two weeks to go until the Mums Enterprise Roadshow arrives in Birmingham

Last month we had a great day exhibiting at the Mums Enterprise Roadshow in London. We are now looking forward to the next event when the show hits Birmingham on Tuesday 31st October. In its fourth year, this flexible work and business show is aimed at mums on a mission. It is designed to help those looking to retrain, find flexible work, start or grow a business. The Birmingham event takes place at Cranmore Park in Solihull and is free to attend.

We are excited to be exhibiting at the show to promote our new franchising offering, which could be a fantastic solution for those ambitious mums looking for a new, flexible career. Our first franchisee Carrie will be there to share her personal experience. Rebecca and Sanina will also be there to talk about Get Ahead VA and what working in a virtual agency really feels like.

Work Life Week: 2nd-6th October 2017

This week is National #WorkLifeWeek. Organised by charity Working Families, the aim of the week is to focus on well-being at work and showcase flexible working policies and practices.

Mental health in the workplace
Employee well-being is certainly a hot topic. With the ever-increasing pressures of busy lives, low wage inflation and economic challenges such as Brexit, employers are having to work hard to engage and motivate their staff. Flexible working can be an important tool for employers to adapt to the realities of today’s society and engage employees in a way that works for them – which ultimately works for the organisation too.
