Here’s 60 seconds with one of our new Regional Directors, Karen McCulloch, who is working alongside fellow Regional Director Allison Wood to bring Get Ahead VA to Newcastle.
Name: Karen McCulloch
Area(s) of expertise: 20 years’ experience working as an Executive Assistant at a senior level, managing multiple priorities and working across a range of tasks. Being able to work creatively and analytically, as well as maintaining confidentiality and discretion.
When and why did you join Get Ahead VA? I joined Get Ahead VA in October because I was impressed with the Get Ahead model, and as soon as I met Rebecca, her positivity and enthusiasm were infectious and I wanted to be a part of that! The regional directorship allows me to be part of a great team whilst managing and controlling the business with Allison, to make it exactly how we want and creating the perfect work–life balance.
What did you do before you joined Get Ahead VA? I was a Diary Manager supporting three Executives.
Career highlight to date: In 2016, the company I worked for sold the department I worked in to private equity investors and we were TUPE’d to the new organisation. Along with the MD, I successfully managed the new office refurbishment, negotiated and managed all of the new office contract agreements and implemented new company branding.
Plans for the future: To grow and establish the Get Ahead Newcastle office by offering tailor-made help and support to local businesses, and being a part of their journey.
