When & why did you join Get Ahead VA: I joined Get Ahead VA in May 2018. I was already running a successful transcription business which mainly focused on university research work, but Get Ahead VA has given me the opportunity to branch out further, expanding into fields such as court cases, human resources and podcasts, to name but a few.
What did you do before you joined Get Ahead VA: Prior to joining Get Ahead VA, I completed a Psychology degree (which is still an area of particular interest to me). This was followed by a career as a Senior Payroll Supervisor and then a short break to have my four children. Whilst they were still small, I decided to start up my own audio transcription service – this was 15 years ago and it’s still going strong!
Career highlight to date: Starting my own business. After the initial advertising phase, I now acquire most of my work by word of mouth, which, in itself, is by far the most satisfying part of my job. To be recommended to others is such a compliment!
Plans for the future: My youngest will be starting secondary school next year, so I hope to increase my workload even further, maybe branching out into other areas in the VA field.
