Client of the month: Tracey Barney from Guildford HR

Here’s 60 seconds with one of our clients, Tracey Barney from Guildford HR, who was looking for administrative support to enable her business to take on new clients:

What situation was your business in when you came to Get Ahead VA?

We run Guildford HR, which provides an expert HR function for businesses who do not have a full or even part-time HR manager. Support is provided when it is needed by a friendly, accessible and qualified team.

We were looking for administrative support on an ad hoc basis and we first heard about Get Ahead VA at a business networking meeting. Get Ahead gives us all the solutions by providing us with experienced help on a virtual basis whenever we need it.

What problems were you experiencing?

We were getting new clients and had taken on qualified HR support but needed both administrative and marketing support to help us move forward, particularly with regards to typing and editing long documents, doing research and helping with accounts. We got this support from Get Ahead VA in the knowledge that this work would be done professionally but also kept confidential, which is paramount to our business.

What might have happened if you hadn’t taken any action?

We may have had to ask for extended deadlines from our clients while the work was completed.

How did Get Ahead VA help solve the problem for you?

Now we know that the support work will be carried out to a very high standard, sometimes at short notice and to tight deadlines, this enables us to concentrate on the client-facing side of the business, providing excellent HR support and solutions.

Why did you choose a VA and not a part-time member of staff?

We chose a virtual assistant because it meant that we had first-class flexible support as and when we needed it for a fixed fee. One of the big benefits of Get Ahead is the breadth of knowledge the team provides. On the odd occasion when our VA is unavailable at short notice, or when she does not have the expertise for a particular task, there is a team of VAs readily available who can step up to the challenge. We recently needed marketing support which my regular VA was unable to provide, but within a short time a marketing VA from Get Ahead was able to support me with the work. We were very happy with the result.

What has this meant to you and your business?

We are taking on new clients. We know that we have HR experts who work for Guildford HR, but we also know that at the touch of a button we can have help and support from the team at Get Ahead, which means we can concentrate on the things that matter to us and our business.
